The Shelton’s Reveal What Keeps Them Grounded

If you’re thinking of a country power couple, you’re probably thinking of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.  They just netted the ACM Awards for Male and Female Vocalist of the Year, in addition to their chart-topping albums, solo and group careers, tours, and television appearances.  They’re rich, famous – and they still fold their own laundry.
“There are some things that she and I draw the line at. If we ever get to the point where we don’t fold our own towels and underwear, we need to get our asses kicked,” Blake tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal, right after tweeting, “Folding the third pile of laundry Miranda has handed me tonight.  This is (expletive)!!  Clothes should be disposable like toilet paper!!!”
Jokes aside, the two don’t let fame go to their heads.  “I try to live a normal life as much as possible,” Miranda explains to MLive.  “Living away from the activity and making my home in Oklahoma is a plus. I have a quiet life there, and love spending time with my animals, family and friends.”
The two like the simple life, where the fame and the fortune don’t matter.  “Where I live in Oklahoma, I am just Miranda to the locals, and when I go to the feed store to buy stuff for my animals, they don’t care that I sing for a living,” she continues.  “Living in the boonies is the great equalizer.”
When asked about advice she would give to aspiring musicians, Miranda has a simple answer: stay true to yourself and your dreams.  “Sing about things that move you and that you want to talk about, and you might get surprised,” she advises.  It’s certainly worked for her, and it’s kept her one of the most down-to-earth artists in the industry.
What keeps her grounded the most, though, is her home.  “When I get home, and I see my dogs and my farm animals and just hang out, it reminds me of what matters, and that if the fame goes away, I will still have people that I love and that love me back in my life,” she says.
